InterprofessionalResearch.Global (IPR.Global) is dedicated to fostering leadership in interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP) through innovative research and collaboration. This lightning talk will showcase the IPR.Global Summer Research Institute—a pioneering initiative designed to equip the next generation of interprofessional researchers with the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct high-quality IPECP research and lead collaborative efforts in their respective fields.


The Institute represents a global collaboration, including experts from IPR.Global and four U.S.-based institutions. This initiative aims to cultivate leadership and sustainability in IPECP research by providing educators, practitioners, and graduate students with rigorous training in IPECP theoretical frameworks, research methodologies, and grant writing skills. The Institute will facilitate mentorship by distinguished scholars and foster a robust network of interprofessional leaders.


Aligned with Leadership theme, this talk will detail the Institute's innovative approach to leadership development in IPECP research by synthesizing/applying IPECP and change management theories to support effective interprofessional teamwork. This preparation enables participants to lead and innovate in their fields. The Institute's curriculum and evaluation plans are structured to enhance research skills and leadership competencies in IPECP. Participants will gain valuable insights into advancing IPECP's impact on practice and community settings, ultimately leading to better care and improved healthcare outcomes. By fostering strategic partnerships and utilizing innovative dissemination methods, the Institute will ensure that research findings and best practices reach a global audience, further contributing to enhanced value and education in healthcare.

Key components of the Institute include:
1. Curriculum Development and Evaluation: Structured training modules designed to enhance research skills and leadership competencies in IPECP.
2. Mentorship and Collaboration: Ongoing support from a diverse interprofessional team of experienced researchers and educators worldwide.
3. Strategic Partnerships: Leveraging institutional collaborations to create a sustainable model for interprofessional research and practice, enhancing leadership development across multiple healthcare disciplines.
4. Innovative Dissemination to Impact Policy Development: Utilizing digital platforms and in-person meetings to share research findings and best practices, ensuring a global reach and impact.

The Institute exemplifies a new model for developing and sustaining leadership in IPECP. By fostering an environment of rigorous research, collaboration, and mentorship, the Institute aims to advance interprofessional education and practice, build the evidence base for IPECP, and cultivate the next generation of leaders in the field. This talk will demonstrate how these efforts align with the Summit's priority criteria, showcasing the Institute's potential to drive meaningful change in healthcare through interprofessional collaboration and innovation.

Accreditation Details

In support of improving patient care, this activity is planned and implemented by The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education Office of Interprofessional Continuing Professional Development (National Center OICPD). The National Center OICPD is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

As a Jointly Accredited Provider, the National Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. The National Center maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive continuing education credits.

The National Center OICPD (JA#: 4008105) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers (ATs).

Physicians: The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education designates this live activity for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with their participation.

Physician Assistants: The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts credit from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Nurses: Participants will be awarded contact hours of credit for attendance at this workshop.

Nurse Practitioners: The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) accepts credit from organizations accredited by the ACCME and ANCC.

Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians: This activity is approved for contact hours.

Athletic Trainers: This program is eligible for Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.
