In 2022, the Center for Interprofessional Health (CIH) at the University of Minnesota launched the Affiliate Faculty Program to create synergistic connections between the Center and preceptors excited about interprofessional education (IPE). Results from the inaugural year were presented at last year’s Nexus Summit; this presentation will review programmatic changes and growth in the interim.
A Big 10 IPE Academic Alliance paper documented varying efforts across institutions to engage faculty and preceptors in ongoing professional development (Ascione, et al, 2019). CIH included the development and growth of an Affiliate Faculty Program in its strategic plan to strengthen connections with IPE champions and to develop new ambassadors of the work. This talk will highlight the many contributions Affiliates have made which benefit the Center’s mission and strategic plan. For example, Affiliates participated in 30 hours of training, 230 hours of Small Group meetings learning with from, and about one another, and 330 hours of teaching/facilitating IPE curricula. Similarly, presenters will share feedback from Affiliates regarding their perceived benefits from the program. The Program began with one cohort called Affiliate Faculty. Entering year three, the program expanded to three cohorts: Affiliate Faculty, Senior Affiliate Faculty, and CIH Ambassadors. This Lightning Talk will cover the schedule of participation by Affiliates and content they learned. Presenters will describe operational details for the program.
