Digital Health for the Interprofessional Health Professions Learner and Practitioner
Upon participation in this session, the learner will gain an understanding of the digital health environment and its impact and importance, address the gaps in knowledge across the continuum of health professions learners and practitioners, and identify examples of integrating digital health into health professions interprofessional education and practice. Additionally, this session will also provide insights from the student perspective regarding the importance, utility, and gaps in digital health education in health professions educational programs.
Upon completion of this session, the participants will be able to:
- Define Digital Health and Identify the components of digital health.
- Explore the impact and importance of digital health on interprofessional education and collaborative practice.
- Characterize the current learning resources for health professions in the digital health environment, including adopted competencies or frameworks for various health professions.
- Identify the gaps in interprofessional education and practice for Digital Health knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
- Through examination of case study examples, describe how Digital Health education and skills are being integrated into interprofessional education and clinical practice.
- Examine the importance, current utility, and perceived gaps in digital health education from the perspective of health profession students.
In support of improving patient care, this activity is planned and implemented by The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education Office of Interprofessional Continuing Professional Development (National Center OICPD). The National Center OICPD is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
