Ryan Butler DNP, RN, CPH, NC-BC is an Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Southern Indiana. She has extensive experience with the management and evaluation of HRSA grants focusing on the design, coordination, and evaluation of interprofessional clinical experiences. Ryan's work centers on preparing students for interprofessional practice and promotes the use of academic-practice partnerships among diverse student teams, practice partners, and patient populations. Her scholarship interests include health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management.

Interprofessional collaboration is key to improving patient outcomes. Patients present with complex needs; interprofessional care allows each healthcare discipline to bring their own unique perspective, knowledge, and skill set to the healthcare team. Students are taught the concept of healthcare teamwork through interprofessional education (IPE) including activities, simulations, trainings, and lectures.
