Dr. Rivera, MD, is an Associate Clinical Professor in Emergency Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. He completed medical school at UCLA and residency at SUNY Downstate / Kings County. Dr. Rivera's passion for teaching led him to pursue a medical education fellowship in Multimedia Design and Education Technology (MDEdTech) at UCI, and he is currently completing a master's degree in education focused on Digital Age Learning and Technology at Johns Hopkins University. His projects include teaching techniques for improved bedside interactions and developing curricula on LGBTQIA+ health and social determinants of health for UCI's School of Medicine.

Our lightning talk will focus on an innovative interprofessional curriculum, the Medical Ethics, Sociology and Humanities (MESH course), which aims to cultivate critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and cultural understanding among healthcare students.
