Mary Beth Kadlec, OT, ScD, OTR is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the MGH Institute of Health Profession (IHP) and Adjunct Professor, Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center, UMass Chan Medical School. Mary Beth has extensive clinical, administrative, teaching, and research experience in occupational therapy. She is faculty on the IHP interprofessional mobile van team with nurse, physician assistant and audiology faculty and students providing education and clinical services in local community housing and centers in underserved areas, while connecting individuals and community providers to additional services.

This Lightening Talk will describe a federally funded, nurse-led mobile health program that addresses the health consequences of climate change and the social determinants of health (SDOH) disproportionately impacting low socioeconomic populations and communities of color. This Lightening Talk will describe our institutionally funded innovative pilot program called Supporting and Empowering Neurodiverse Children Everyday (SENCE) that offered entry-level occupational therapy doctoral (EL-OTD) and masters’ level speech-language pathology (SLP) students a hands-on opportunity to observe, co-treat and learn from neurodiverse children and their caregivers.
