Jessica Gormley, PhD, CCC-SLP is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Munroe-Meyer Institute. Through her research and clinical practice, she aims to develop and evaluate tools, strategies, and programs to equip people who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and their communication partners to interact effectively in healthcare settings. She is a speech-language pathologist in inpatient and outpatient settings, providing clinical services, mentoring, and program development. Jessica is a co-organizer of the Patient-Provider Communication Network and is a PI or Co-Investigator on grant projects related to supporting people with disabilities to participate in their healthcare.

Individuals who experience developmental disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, or intellectual disability, face pervasive health disparities and limited access to quality health care services. This seminar outlines insights from a recent community research project seeking to establish needs related to individuals with disabilities preparing for and attending health care visits.
