Janet Lieto, DO, FACOFP, CMD, is an Associate Professor at UNTHSC-TCOM. Board Certified in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care. Clinically, she cares for patients on Inpatient Hospice Unit as part of an Interdisciplinary Team, where communication is essential. Medical students, residents, geriatric, and hospice and palliative medicine fellows are trained on the unit. As the Course Director, Dr. Lieto is developing Professional Identity and Health Systems Practice Curriculum for Osteopathic Medical Students in Years 1-4. Dr. Lieto has spoken locally, statewide, nationally and internationally on both geriatric and hospice and palliative care issues.

Description: Often the focus of innovation and improvement in the field of IPE targets the student and patient/community experience, overlooking the enabling or inhibiting factors of the faculty and preceptors charged with building said cultures for interprofessional education and/or interprofessional collaborative practice.
