Gage is a graduate student at WVU School of Medicine. He received his BS at West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV. He is passionate about oral health and access to oral healthcare, particularly in rural areas. Working alongside interprofessional teams, he has presented oral health topics to physician assistants, nursing, and medical pathways students. He is a member of the Mountains of Hope Cancer Coalition, which promotes a healthier life for people who had/have cancer. An advocate for service, he has assisted with health fairs that promote oral health and overall wellness to the communities in West Virginia.

Oral health has a direct correlation to overall wellbeing. Oral health is linked to diabetic, heart, brain, and pregnancy health. However, “100 million people in the United States receive care from a physician annually, but not a dentist”.1 Primary care providers play an integral role in educating patients about oral health and guiding patients to resources, including dental facilities.
