Deborah Cave, DNP RN CNE, has 25 years of combined nursing experience in women’s health and obstetrics, general adult care, and nursing education. She is a full-time faculty member at the University of Mary, where she is also the coordinator of the MSN Graduate Nursing Programs. She is a current external member of the North Dakota Board of Nursing, Nursing Education Committee and President of Kappa Upsilon, the local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. She is active in the community and can be seen volunteering at swim meets, band functions, and community organizations serving those in need.

Interprofessional education (IPE) prepares students for interprofessional collaborative practice, and interprofessional competence requires scaffolding of learning and the opportunity to engage in interprofessional education, which should begin early and occur at multiple points across the curriculum. These IPE experiences can help guide and build communication and collaboration with other disciplines. However, one of the most challenging components of incorporating IPE is knowing where to begin.
