Dr. Backus has been on faculty at Pacific University Oregon School of Pharmacy since 2015, engaging in many interprofessional education activities at Pacific, as well as with local institutions. She was delighted to work with Western University in AY 23/24, incorporating her pharmacy students with their many healthcare programs. Dr. Backus is also a geriatric pharmacist, engaging in interprofessional patient care with Providence ElderPlace Oregon, a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).

Presenting at the Nexus Summit:

This talk will summarize outcomes from an interprofessional learning activity involving 842 students from nine disciplines in 130 small teams. Students reported high satisfaction and improved interprofessional competencies, however anecdotal evidence suggests variability as a function of team membership. Challenges with assessing the impact of team membership will be discussed.
