Danielle M. Alm, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS is a Clinical Associate Professor in pediatrics and Director of the Continuing Education Program and Co-Director of the Teaching and Learning Curriculum program at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at Saint Joseph's University. Dr. Alm is a Pediatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper University HealthCare. In this role she practices in general pediatrics and pediatric intensive care. Dr. Alm’s research interests include incorporating interprofessional education into both the didactic and elective pharmacy courses. She focuses on exchanging the roles and responsibilities of different professional careers and how to collaborate as well as communication between professionals and patients.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
The purpose of this lightning talk is to highlight the creation, implementation, and assessment of a multi-university interprofessional education (IPE) experience which involved medicine, nursing, and pharmacy students. This education experience used IPE as a pedagogical approach to intersect ethical principles and communication strategies on healthcare provider (HCP) substance use disorder (SUD).
