Chenwei Yan is a 3rd-year student from the University of Minnesota pursuing a dual degree in pharmacy and public health. She is interested in community engagement practices and helping address the resource gap existing in the community. Currently, she is active in multiple initiatives including a leadership role at a food pantry that serves the university community, as well as research in the field of rare diseases to inform the development of better clinical metrics and understand the burden of disease. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in specialty care and help expand the value of care.

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted childhood immunization rates and primary care utilization in addition to fracturing community trust in the healthcare system. Most recent data from the Minnesota Department of Health shows that about 60% of Minnesota children between 24-35 months received all vaccinations in the childhood immunization series, while the Healthy People 2030 goal is a 90% coverage rate. This session is designed as an engaging moderated discussion, featuring diverse student leaders representing interprofessional student groups and innovative projects. The panelist members will highlight successful examples of interprofessional engagement and stimulate collaborative dialogue among all attendees.
