Leading in the Nexus: Learning Everyday in Practice

Tuesday, September 24, 2024, 10:00 am - 11:30 am CDT

The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (National Center) was founded on the aspirational principle of the Nexus - simultaneously transforming practice and education together to achieve health and learning outcomes that matter. We’ve been learning with, from, and about colleagues from across the US and globally in deep engagement for more than a decade. We have synthesized the practical wisdom gained from everyday learning in practice settings, from social science and educational theory, and from scholarly works into a new model, the NexusIPE™ Learning Model. This new model emphasizes meaningful impact simultaneously through both learning and health outcomes.

The NexusIPE™ Learning Model, supported by a suite of tools and strategies, has proven to be an effective, practical approach to developing and strengthening work in the Nexus of practice and education. This model supports people to address changing workforce needs, provide equitable care that prioritizes health, and facilitates the well-being of practice teams. Join Christine Arenson, MD, Director, and Barbara Brandt, PhD, Founding Director of the National Center, for this thought-provoking session as they - as a practice-education Nexus team - share the theory and practical application of this approach in real-world Nexus programs. This plenary will challenge and galvanize you and your team to think differently as you begin your Nexus Summit 2024 experience.
