Sheyanga Beecher began her career as a public health nurse in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. As a nurse practitioner, Ms. Beecher has worked internationally in Haiti, Ethiopia, South Africa and Tanzania. In 2012, she began working at Hennepin Healthcare. At HHS, Ms. Beecher staffs an acute care clinic, travel medicine clinic, and serves as the Medical Director for the Pediatric Mobile Health program which began in May of 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted childhood immunization rates and primary care utilization in addition to fracturing community trust in the healthcare system.
