Olwen Halvey is a Lecturer in Social Work at the School of Applied Social Studies, University College Cork. She is a professionally qualified social worker since 2000 and has undertaken further postgraduate studies in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Prior to joining UCC in 2015, Olwen worked as a social worker in child protection and in medical social work. She is an experienced tutor and programme coordinator, her teaching and research interests include practice skills teaching, health-related social work, on-line abuse and harassment of social workers and interprofessional learning.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
Through a unique collaboration between Eastern Michigan University, University College Cork, and the University of Limerick, 11 faculty and 115 nursing, occupational therapy, and social work students conducted an interprofessional case study. This international learning experience aimed to enhance students' global healthcare awareness by engaging with peers to learn more about how different healthcare systems and cultural values influence care.
