Mary Showstark is a Physician Assistant, an Assistant Professor at the Yale School of Medicine Physician Assistant Online Program. Showstark is involved in growing the healthcare workforce for the PA profession globally. She is Vice President for PAs for Global Health, a global ambassador to American Academy of PAs (AAPA), communications member for International Academy of PA Educators, and consults with the World Health Organization. Mary is also the Director of Virtual Interprofessional Education, an advisor to Health Tech Without Borders, and holds a PhD in Security and Intelligence Studies from the University of Buckingham

In his pivotal work, Pedagogy of the Oppressed Paola Freire (1968) argues that one cannot expect positive results from an educational methodology that fails to respect the particular experience of people from whom language and learning are born.
