Lucinda Soares Gonzales serves as the Associate Department Head of Clinical Education and an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Connecticut. In this role, she also provides clinical supervision to graduate students studying speech-language pathology. Her clinical expertise includes dysphagia, voice, and adult neurogenic cognitive-communication disorders. Lucinda is passionate about integrating clinical simulation into didactic coursework to enhance student learning experiences. Lucinda recently completed the ASHA Leadership Development Program.

Interprofessional, active learning has been associated with enhanced communication and improved clinical competency in health professions, but little is known about the use of this pedagogical technique as it applies to a collaboration among dietetics, pharmacy, and speech-language pathology students.A yearly, online synchronous workshop was developed for students from these three professions.
