Dr. Ling Cao is a professor of immunology in the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a biomedical researcher and educator, and an advocate and practitioner in inter-profession education. As an independent researcher, she continues to advance biomedical/translational research to delineate the neuroimmune mechanisms in neuropathic pain. As a medical educator, she promotes learning in interprofessional/interdisciplinary teams. Dr. Cao earned her M.D. from the Beijing Medical University (Currently Peking University Health Science Center), her Ph.D. in Toxicology from SUNY Albany, and her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Interprofessional (IP) and multidisciplinary collaborations are critical for providing comprehensive, safe, and effective care for patients, especially those with chronic illnesses, highlighting the importance of interprofessional education (IPE) for health professions students.
