Dr. Kin S. Ly is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM), Course Director of the Osteopathic Medical Knowledge (OMK) Course in Year 1, and Discipline Director of Pharmacology. Dr. Ly earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Education from Temple University, Doctor of Pharmacy from Temple University School of Pharmacy, and Doctor of Education from the University of New England. Her current medical education research interests include interprofessional education (IPE) and social determinants of health (SDOH).

Interprofessional (IP) and multidisciplinary collaborations are critical for providing comprehensive, safe, and effective care for patients, especially those with chronic illnesses, highlighting the importance of interprofessional education (IPE) for health professions students. The increased awareness of how social determinants of health (SDOH) can affect a patient’s health led to the creation of a virtual IPE program that aimed to introduce the public health problem solving paradigm (Guyer 1998) to health professions students and facilitate its usage in patient-centered care.
