Khia's work focuses on cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion for underserved and marginalized student populations enrolled at East Tennessee State University. Before coming to the Counseling Center at ETSU, Khia spent five years in private practice, where she focused her work on gender-affirming care with adult and adolescent transgender individuals and started support groups to optimize their care and sense of community. Additionally, Khia also specializes in Religious Trauma Syndrome and Racial Traumatization. She received her Masters in Marriage Couple and Family Therapy from Walden University in 2018 and is working on her PhD in Transformative Social Change

Interprofessional collaboration interventions have the potential to improve healthcare outcomes and lead to an improved culture of safety.
