Katherine holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice, and is board certified as an Advanced Public Health Nurse, master’s in nursing administration, and certifications as a Healthcare Simulation Educator, and Rehabilitation Nurse. Dr. Balint has a deep passion for public health and serving communities in need for improvement of equitable population health outcomes. She has worked closely as an interprofessional healthcare team member throughout Detroit and surrounding communities with healthcare systems and community agencies. Dr. Balint co-leads the promotion of IPE curriculum and simulation across health sciences at Wayne State University and serves as an MI- AHEC Scholars faculty member.

Introduction: The healthcare workforce in Michigan plays a crucial role in ensuring the wellbeing and health outcomes of the state's diverse population. This presentation aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the healthcare workforce in Michigan, focusing on four key disciplines: medicine, pharmacy, social work, and nursing. By examining the unique challenges and opportunities within each field, the presentation seeks to suggest solutions and highlight the role of the Michigan Area Health Education Center (MI-AHEC) in addressing these challenges.
