Dr. Barnhardt currently serves as an Interprofessional Education Champion and the Director of Competency in Interprofessional Collaboration for The Ohio State University College of Medicine. In her clinical role, she is a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician, commonly caring for patients as part of interdisciplinary teams. She also currently serves as faculty with the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) training program at The Ohio State University, an interdisciplinary training program to equip trainees from diverse backgrounds to provide care and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Based on student feedback, leaders from the Doctor of Medicine (MD) curriculum and the Office of Interprofessional Practice and Education (OIPE) at The Ohio State University developed a new module for medical students to learn interprofessional (IP) collaborative competencies within a required clinical experience, Patients with Populations (PWP).
