Christopher Hernandez, PharmD, BCACP, is an Assistant Professor of Practice at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Roseman University of Health Sciences and completed his PGY1 residency at UC San Diego Health and PGY2 in Ambulatory Care at Ohio State. A Board-Certified Ambulatory Care Specialist, Dr. Hernandez practices at PrimaryOne Health, central Ohio's largest federally qualified health center, where he provides autonomous care to uninsured, Spanish-speaking patients. He also serves as PrimaryOne Health’s HIV specialist. His research focuses on health disparities, interprofessional teamwork, and service implementation in FQHCs.

To provide quality interprofessional education (IPE), active learning sessions must involve facilitators who can articulate values and ethics, communicate effectively, and honor roles and responsibilities. Facilitators are commonly faculty, staff, or clinicians. However, with competing interests, faculty, staff, and clinician time can be limited and a barrier to implementing effective IPE.
