Anne Steele, MSN, RN, ACCNS-AG, CPHQ
Bio: Anne Steele is a Patient Safety Innovation Coordinator with the
Armstrong Institute and supporting Johns Hopkins Medicine. She
graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing with her Masters
degree in 2013 and is certified as a clinical nurse specialist in acute care
adult/gerontology. She has worked in the regulatory, quality
improvement and safety culture domains for the last nine years and is
passionate about coaching teams in co-creating healthy and supportive
work environments. She loves teaching and facilitating learning programs for adult learners,
especially those focused on organizational culture, just culture, safety culture and building
teams. Anne’s clinical experience includes med-surge, telemetry, correctional and intensive
care nursing for adults and their care partners. Anne began her career at Johns Hopkins
Hospital in January 2012 as a nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Currently, she teaches in
the CUSP program as Armstrong Institute Faculty, facilitates Just Culture training for staff and
faculty, and adjuncts at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in the Interprofessional Practice
program with undergraduate nursing students. Anne is also active in supporting advanced
practice team members across JHHS and is Co-Chair of the Research, Safety and Quality
Subcommittee of the Advanced Practice Advisory Council. Anne is also an active member of the
education committee of the Maryland Association for Healthcare Quality and helps produce 11
monthly lunch and learns as well as a full day conference for Quality and Safety Practitioners in
Maryland.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
In this seminar we will discuss how we developed and evaluated a two-semester Health System Science (HSS) curriculum enhancement program for pre-licensure nursing students. Health Systems Science is a foundational platform and framework for the study and understanding of how care is delivered, how health professionals work together to deliver that care, and how the health system can improve patient care and health care delivery (AMA, 2024).
