Development of an Interprofessional Educational Module for Better Antenatal Oral Health Care in Women
Background : Poor oral health among pregnant women is associated with preterm low birth weight babies and premature labor.There lies a lacunae in the awareness regarding the Oro-systemic link, which can be fatal to both the mother and the fetus.
Aim: development of IP educational module for antenatal oral health care.
Methodology: Mixed Method -Purposive Sampling technique, Need Analysis of the study- Qualitative Approach .Design of an IPE Module in antenatal oral health care and Training of medical and dental students IP Team.
Results: Need for oral health awareness emerged as a theme from qualitative study. RIPLS studied suggested need for collaboration between medical and dental students and pre and post test assessment was statistical significant (p< 0.05).
Conclusion: Students showed readiness towards teamwork and collaboration.
Implications: Creating awareness regarding good antenatal oral health care is the need of the hour. Students got exposed to IPE learning and sensitization to IP practice.
